The Global Classroom: Engaging Global Collaboration · 05 September 2026

Rebeca Wilfred Kitomari, an author and educationist based in Tanzania, used the third Global Education Forum to make a simple but powerful point: real global engagement doesn't require a classroom of students from different countries — it can start with educators themselves.

Speaking to a live session connecting educators from more than ten countries across several continents, Rebeca reflected on the moment itself as a working example of what she was describing:

"Imagine as we are educators here — and this was instead a meeting of students from different countries, just like we are here."

She went on to explore how organisations such as UNICEF already run collaborative programmes that connect young people and educators across borders, and outlined strategic ways other organisations — schools, NGOs and education networks alike — could support and extend this kind of programme.

Her session was as much a demonstration as a talk: a room full of educators from different continents, doing the very thing she was encouraging schools to do with their students.
